Composer's Note:

The Bells of Peace is a children’s song primarily about peace in the world. In particular it should be sung during the festive season but may be sung throughout the year. It is not religious but symbolises a bringing together of all mankind in a spirit of hope, joy and peace. The children are arranged in two antiphonal groups, answering each other musically as though having a conversation. This represents people from different places coming together in music. The bells are a symbol of joy and are imitated using handbells, glockenspiels, chimes and by sounds the children make themselves. It promotes an end to war and strife and a future of love for one another, hope, joy, kindness and peace throughout the world. A universality of international brother and sisterhood and an appeal from our children to us all.
