Composer's Note:

This is a playful recomposition for three soloists and string orchestra of Chopin’s Prelude in C minor Op 28. During the orchestral opening section there is no sign at all of Chopin’s tune, but then the section is repeated with his melody miraculously appearing above it in the solo cello. Maybe it was there all the time, maybe it wasn’t. There follows some variations playing on contrasting aspects of the theme. Two solo violins in dialogue high above a pizzicato accompaniment, a gruff and heavy orchestral chordal section and a light trio for the soloists featuring harmonics. Finally the orchestra rounds things off in a style reminiscent of the opening.
