Composer's Note:
One Day in London Town for full orchestra was written in a small bedsit in Harrow Weald during February 1981. It was to be an interesting year. Britain was seething. Mass employment amidst industrial demise and a bubbling discontent which was to explode in widespread Summer riots. Contrast this with the pageantry and splendour of the Royal wedding of Charles and Diana at St Paul’s Cathedral and the vast tapestry which is modern Britain is clear to behold. Against this backdrop, the music depicts the wonder and excitement of a recent arrival living in the metropolis. Its sights, sounds, smells, history, cultures, buzz, energy, opportunities and above all its people making it the great city it is. One Day in London Town appears on the 2024 album “Retrospection”.
